DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Since our pool managers are not scheduled to work on weekends. Each family is assigned one or two 3 hour gate duty shifts per year on an alphabetical rotation. The Gate Duty Roster is sent to all pool members in their spring packets. (All board members are exempt from gate duty)

Sign the Gate Duty Roster. In order to receive credit you must sign the gate duty roster (in the notebook at the front desk) indicating the time of your arrival and time of departure.

Gate Duty Shift : As members arrive at the pool:

  • Ask them to sign the notebook at the front desk. All guest must be signed in and accompanied by a member.
  • Make sure the all arrivals are active members by checking their names with the current roster. Notify the pool president or any other board member should a non-active member use the pool.
  • Hang up their pool keys on the numbered board.
  • Read the pool rules and enforce when necessary. Support the Lifeguard in the performance of his/her duties. In the absence of a Lifeguard, the person on gate duty along with all adult members present are charged with the enforcement of pool rules.
  • Keep the gate closed and locked at all times.

At the end of your shift, if your are not relieved within a reasonable length of time please:

  • Call and remind the next member that he/she has gate duty.
  • If you are unable to reach the next person, notify the membership chairman of the no-show by telephone.
  • Do not leave with any lone swimmers in the water and no lifeguard on duty. You must designate an adult member to be responsible for enforcing pool rules and watching the swimmers.
  • At pool closing, clear the pool, turn off the lights and close and lock the door.

PLEASE NOTE: If you cannot work your assigned shift, you must find a replacement. You may trade with, or hire any swim club member 18 years or over. Should your replacement fail to show, the name originally assigned will be the responsible party. Any disputes are between you and your substitute-not the Board of Directors.

NO SHOWS WILL BE FINED $75.00 for the first offensive. Please report any no-shows to the membership director. The pool managers will attempt to make a reminder call to members with gate duty for the following weekend. However, it is your responsibility to fulfill your gate duty shift whether or not you receive a reminder call.
